Lovlina Borgohain has lost in the semi-finals in women's boxing at the Tokyo Olympics. Lovlina Borgohain won the bronze medal as she was defeated 0-5 by Turkey's Busenaz Surmenelli in the women's welterweight (64-69kg) semi-final match.
Surmenelli impressed all five judges in the first and second rounds and scored 10-10 points, while Lovlina got nine points each in the first two rounds from all five judges I also took 10-10 marks from all the judges. In the third round, two judges gave nine points each and three judges gave eight points each.
Lovlina defeated Nan Chin Chen of Taiwan 4-1 to secure a bronze medal for the country by making it to the semi-finals of the 69kg weight category of the Tokyo Olympics.
Lovlina had said that my goal is to get the gold medal and I will prepare for that. But before that, I have to hit the semi-finals. She said, I was not fearless at first and was very scared in the beginning, but since I started believing in myself and stopped thinking what people would say about me, then I became fearless.
Lovlina said, due to Corona, I missed some tournaments and due to this competitions were also decreasing, I had corona, due to which I missed a tournament. I thought at that time that if the fight is not happening then how should I prepare. But everything turned out well because of my coach and everyone's support.
