Benefits of Fish Oil for Hair Growth
One of the most interesting benefits of omega-3 fatty acids, which is found in fish oil, is that they can help you grow a long and sparkling key.
"Omega-3 fatty acids are not made in the body, so you need to eat food that contains it or take supplements. Fish and seafood contain DHA and EPA, while plant-based foods such as walnuts and flaxseed contain alpha-linolenic acid, or ala, a small portion of which are then converted to EPA and DHA, records the National Institute of Health. Omega-3 supporters say that getting enough amount in your diet can help feed follicles and grow hair.
Does Omega-3 help with hair growth?
In terms of supplementation, there are several studies that see Omega-3 fatty acids and hair growth, and few who study fish oil in particular.
A small study in the February 2017 edition of the Journal of Clinical and aesthetic doctor views 10 participants with androgenetic alopecia (known as male pattern baldness, which can appear in men and women, note Medineplus) which each is given twice a day. Supplements containing a mixture of fish oil, flaxseed oil, antioxidants, and melatonin. After about six months, eight people (representing 80 percent of participants) have an increase in hair. It is important to remember, that this is a very small study and no placebo group.
A previous study, with 120 participants, published in 2015 in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. It compares groups that take supplements containing fish oil and vitamin C and E (between other materials) with the control group. After six months, 62 percent of them in the supplement group saw an increase in hair density compared to 28 percent in the control group. What might be surprising is that more than half of women in the control group say they pay attention to the increase in hair growth when comparing before and after photos of their scalp.
Supplements may contain fish oil or omega-3 along with other ingredients, such as antioxidants. These ingredients can act synergistically together, so we should not jump to the conclusion that taking fish oil or omega-3 alone in a supplement will grow hair.
As for topical applications, a study published in September 2018 in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, where scientists apply topical fermented mackerel oil to rodent mustaches, found that these substances help stimulate follicles, perhaps by activating the "growth" phase of hair.
That's one study - and in mice. Overall, "Topical applications of fish oil will not support hair growth or health scalp," said Kerry Yates, a trichology and collective founder of the color in Dallas. It also has a fishy smell, and the smell that is still enough to prevent some people use pure fish oil on the scalp.
When it comes to hair growth, the most effective choice is eating a healthy diet, using soft hair care products, and looking for care (start with your dermatologist) if you lose your hair, so health conditions can be overcome, Goldberg said.
What is the best form of fish oil?

Fish like this provides various additional vitamins and minerals that are not found in supplements. To reap the potential benefits of fish oil, choose whole fish on pills, recommend a registered diet. If you are going to take supplements for hair, skin, or nail.
